preschool options to meet families’ unique needs (see
below). Center
activities take place at safe,
licensed facilities throughout the Copper
Country.

PRESCHOOL OPTIONS
Half-day for 4-year-olds
- Three or four days a week throughout the school year
- Nutritious meals and transportation provided
- Half a day, either mornings or afternoons
- Free to all families
Full-day for 3- to 5-year-olds
- 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. year-round
- Great for parents who work or go to school
- Grants offset costs, resulting in low rates
Special options for 3-year-olds
- Home-based option
- Meet in a center one or more days a week for social interaction, group activities
- Regular home visits to develop educational activities for children and parents
Preschool for children with special needs
- Preschool programs are open to children with disabilities
- Copper Country Intermediate School District and a variety of specialists assist
the program
- Inclusive environment leads to enhanced socialization
and understanding among children

Children with special needs take part
in regular preschool activities through a unique program
called Special Kids in Preschool (SKIP) operated with
the Copper Country Intermediate School District.
Regular parent involvement is a key
component of BHK programs. Parents often volunteer in
the classroom, ride buses, serve on the Parent Council and
take part in monthly parent meetings.
