The Mobile Toy Library travels a monthly route to outlying areas in the Copper Country. This converted school bus, colorfully painted with popular childrens storybook characters, offers books, toys and videos for parents to check out and take home.

Parenting classes provide parents with information about topics like dealing with rivalries between siblings, how to talk so children will listen, positive discipline and more.

Playgroups offer parents and young children a chance to spend quality time together with other children and parents. Fun activities, snacks and "make it, take it" projects are all part of the fun.

Health and Developmental Screenings give parents with children age birth to 5 an assessment of their child's general health. Screenings include a health history review, physical exam, vision and hearing assessment, immunizations and laboratory testing, as age appropriate. Each child's cognitive, motor and language skills also are assessed by teachers and early childhood specialists. Screenings typically take place during the summer at sites around the Copper Country.

Family Wellness activities are designed to promote good health and motor-skill development for young children and overall fitness for their parents. The centers offer exercise areas for children and parents (supervised child care is available during certain hours). Special wellness events and classes such as sledding trips and dance classes are also scheduled periodically. Memberships are available for a low cost based on income. To see schedule, click here.

Special early childhood services exist for children with a developmental delay through a partnership with the Copper Country Intermediate School District and Copper Country Mental Health Services Institute
