Where do members serve?
Members serve in
preschools, local elementary, middle and high schools,
and other area non-profit agencies. Member duties vary
from site to site, but all members serve to meet our
primary focus: education. Please visit the Service Sites page
for examples of Superior AmeriCorps service sites.
What do members do?
- School-based members
tutor and mentor students who need support to
achieve school success. They also initiate safe,
enriching after-school
and summer youth programs.
- Members in non-profit
agencies expand and enhance mentoring and
educational enrichment programs serving young children
and families and
recruit volunteers to assist with programming.
- Members in preschool
classrooms expand and
enhance child-development
programs serving young
children and families.
- Members also
coordinate youth service-learning programs and
community-wide service projects. These projects will
enhance the capacity
of schools and agencies to meet critical community needs
by promoting
collaboration, volunteerism and the ethic of service.
