During 2009-2010, 46 members provided 73,354 hours
of service which produced the following results
throughout 5 counties in the Western Upper Peninsula
(Baraga, Dickinson, Houghton,
Iron and Keweenaw).
SERVICE PROJECTS

46 members planned 35 different service projects
throughout the year to assist the community in
2009-2010.

Main service projects included: Make a
Difference Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and
Alcohol Awareness Month.
VOLUNTEER DATA

46 members recruited 850 volunteers who provided
over 6,278 hours of service.
TUTORING
-
1,366 K-12 students were tutored throughout the
year by 32 members.
-
67% of students tutored had at least a half
letter grade improvement or more in subjects
tutored.

62% of students tutored demonstrated improvement
in attitude towards school.
MENTORING
-
477 students were mentored throughout the year
by 24 members.
-
73% of participating children reported
improvements in conflict resolution, social
skills or character development during the
course of the year.
PRESCHOOL EDUCATION
-
9 members assisted over 160 preschool children
throughout the year.

88% of
classrooms with a member reported greater
improvements in the daily routine and 100% had a
greater improvement in Adult-Child interaction
than those classrooms without a member.
